A woodland engagement session deep in the heart of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Somerset.
From Vicky’s first email I had a feeling she had an eye for detail. And boy, does she!! Always keen to be different, Vicky & Andy are getting married at Glove Factory Studios in Holt which is yet to host a wedding. The venue is an amazing industrial style space, with lots of rustic metal detail. Perfect for a modern wedding without being in the heart of a big city.
Vicky & Andy were keen to find a forest full of tall, thin trees. Stockhill Wood, in Wells, South Somerset seemed to tick all the boxes. A stone throw from their home in Bath, it’s brimming full of very tall, very thin trees. It’s no secret that I adore Bath, but I haven’t ventured south much so it was great to spend some time in the Wells area.
Inspired by American style couple shoots (Vicky grew up in America), they chose to wear formal outfits. Vicky wore the most amazing Self Portrait dress and walked through the woodland like a pro in 4 inch heels! Serious respect! While I usually suggest couples dress how they feel most comfortable for couple shoots, I have to admit I loved photographing them all dressed up. Especially with the woodland backdrop.
We had planned to bring along smoke bombs, but it didn’t quite work out. But to be honest, between Vicky & Andy looking fierce, and the natural organic beauty of the Mendip Hills AONB I don’t think it mattered to much.
