Your Story

To me weddings are stories, they start with morning prep and end with a good party. Each has tales of love, friendship and are brimming with emotion.

Your wedding is unique, so I approach it with fresh eyes and aim to capture your day honestly and authentically. I take a step back and watch the day unfold, capturing candids moments of the people most dearest to you. Most of what I shoot is candid, undirected and unposed.

Your story wouldn’t be complete without capturing you both. We’ll spend some time away from the party to capture natural portraits. I keep this relaxed, without any posing, but with a little direction to make best use of light and backdrops.

I’m based in Cardiff South Wales, but frequently (and very happily) travel to London and Glasgow for weddings. My background in Architecture gives me a creative edge, and a love of colour, pattern, and the best light.

FAQ's

How do we order prints?

You (or your friends and family) can order prints (& thank you cards) directly from your digital gallery.

Will all the photos be edited?

Each and every photograph is personally edited by me, in my signature style.

Do we own the copyright?

You receive full printing rights of all photographs given to you, however Elaine Williams Photography retains copyright to all the photographs. Your license allows you to make prints, albums, post on social media, display in your home. The only thing it doesn’t allow for is for you to modify, sell, or use commercially.

Will you be there on our wedding day?

Yes! Unlike some more traditional studios, you hire me, my creative eye and shooting style, rather than a representative or associate.

Can we split the hours?

My coverage includes 9 consecutive hours (or 3 if you book the shorter package). If you need extra coverage you can add them to your package for £200 per hour.

Do you bring along a second photographer?

Depending on the number of guests, I’ll sometimes recommend adding an additional photographer.

How many photographs will we get?

It varies depending on the number of hours coverage, but you will receive a minimum of 500 fully edited digital images.

When will you take our couple portraits?

During summer months light is better later in the day so I like to split the couple shoot across the day. After the ceremony I’ll usually spend around 20 minutes after the ceremony with you both, then a further 20 minutes around 2 hours before the sun goes down, when the light is at it’s best.

What happens after the wedding?

I’ll send you some previews a few days after your wedding. Your preview slideshow and full gallery should be ready 6 weeks after your wedding. If you would like them sooner, I offer an express delivery service for £500.

How long is the gallery live?

The gallery will remain live from 12 months. This can be extended for a small fee.

Are you Insured?

Yes, For both public liability and professional indemnity.

We want to book you! What’s our next step?

Get in touch! Once we know I’m available on your date, we’ll chat about your plans and a little on how I work we can take it from there. It’s super important to me that we get on like a house on fire.

If you decide I’m the photographer for you and would like to book a £500 non-refundable booking fee secures your date.

When is the remaining balance due?

4 weeks before your wedding. You’ll receive a reminder with your invoice around 6-8 weeks before your wedding, with a link to your final details form to complete. This helps you keep track of payments, and me keep track of your wedding plans and schedule.

One moment your doing up your shoes, next you're on the dance floor rocking out to Led Zeppelin...

Cake's get eaten, dresses get dirty and flowers wilt. But, your photographs will be a visual reminder of the emotions you experienced, rather than how your day looked. They will fill you with warm and fuzzy feelings, make you shed a tear or two, or laugh out loud.

Your wedding is super important to me. Rather than overloading my diary with weddings each weekend, I take on no more than 28 weddings per year. This allows me to be as committed to you as you are me. You want natural, non-traditional, non-posey photography. The most successful way to achieve this is for us to get to know each other a little. By limiting weddings, we can chat face-to-face (in person, or on Skype if we're not nearby) to talk about your plans. All of this allows me to be less like a photographer on the day, and more like a friend.

How it Works

Before your Wedding Day

Once your all booked in, we’ll stay in touch. For some this in regular email chit-chat, for others things are quiet until around 6 weeks before the wedding when it’s time to get down to the nitty-gritty and talk details.

Where possible, it’s nice to have one face-to-face chat over Skype or Facetime before your wedding. The most important thing is making sure I’m upto speed on all the details of your day.

Around 6-8 weeks before your wedding I’ll send you a questionnaire. This is where we’ll gather your addresses and timings, and the ins and outs of any group shots and the names of a couple of helpers to help gather the troops! We’ll also note any other essential information, or anything I should be aware of like confetti throws, sparklers or any other surprises.

On the Day

On the wedding day itself, we’ll take things one step at a time. We’ll deal with any inclement weather as and when it arrives, laugh at the random and unexpected, but most of all, we’ll capture it all for you to look back on for years to come. 90% of what I shoot is unscripted and unposed, so you can be reassured there there will be no awkward posing, just your uninterrupted story.

That story wouldn’t be complete without capturing you both. I’ll steal you away for 20 minutes to capture the excitement and emotion following the ceremony. We’ll seek out some fantastic locations to make some creative but honest portraits. Sometimes, if something unexpected happens like a red sunset, a moody stormy sky or unicorn flying over I’ll grab you for a few minutes. I’ll say sorry now, but I promise it will be worth it.

Hey!

Hey, I'm Elaine and I shoot honest, modern wedding photography. I'm obsessed by bouquets, window light and laughter. I'm an architectural graduate, keen gardener, animal lover and wife. I love the smell of autumn and the colour of pumpkins so much I named my dog Fawkes. I've described myself on my site as "often witty, ever-so-slightly kooky" and I can't really argue with that here.

But - this is about you! If you are a couple who appreciate the little things and have planned your wedding around details and people that make you scream with excitement, appreciate good coffee, cities over beaches and laughing late into the night with friends over good pizza we're going to get on just fine.
