Alex and Tom’s wedding at Manorbier Castle was an absolute dream. In the days leading up to their autumn wedding the forecast had been miserable, but we had the most perfect September weather for their Pembrokeshire wedding. (It may, or may not have had something to do with burying sausages!)
Manorbier Castle it’s self is such a good South Wales wedding venue for weddings around the 60-70 guest mark. Built by a Normanย knight, Odo de Barri, and later strengthen by his son William, the 11th Century castle is located around 5 miles south-west of Tenby on the Pembrokeshire coast. Catering upto 70 guests for ceremonies in the Chapel, it has really lovely, homely (hotels can be so sterile sometimes!) on-site accommodation for couples. For dining, there is the option of a vaulted dining room, or a bespoke tipi set within the castle walls. Perhaps one of my favourite things about the castle is the sheer variety of locations for couple portraits both within and outside the castle.
Travelling to the castle, I stopped off to capture a little of Tom’s morning preparations at his family home. I adore capturing groom prep, it doesn’t need to be much, just those last 15-30 minutes before heading to the venue is a sweet spot. Tom’s family were on fine form and kept everyone laughing.
Next stop was catching up with Alex who was getting ready with her family at the castle. Everything was so relaxed and Alex took time to open a memory book from her friends before gifting her family with blankets incase the evening was chilly. After getting ready, Alex made her way to the Castle’s 12th Century vaulted Chapel for the wedding ceremony. I think this was possibly one of my favourite ceremonies ever, it was just so heartfelt and personal. After family photos and confetti in the castle grounds. We headed out of the castle towards Manorbier Beach, the landscape surrounding the beach looked amazing in all its Autumn hues! I got Alex and Tom to cwtch up on a bench for really relaxed informal couple portraits before we headed back to the party.
