Sarah & Gary’s couple shoot in their quirky Glasgow home.
I’ll let you into a secret – my heart belongs in Glasgow. Sure, South Wales is bloody amazing. We have the Brecon Beacons (possibly Wales answer to Glencoe) 30 minutes north and beaches 30 minutes to the West. But, nothing beats Glasgow for me. The close-knit grain, the imposing seven or eight storey sandstone buildings. The grittiness, the culture, the shops, the banter. I studied Architecture at Strathclyde uni and a little part of my will always be infatuated with the cities urban grain. Everytime we travel back to Scotland my weekend looks something like “Friday – Edinburgh; Saturday – Glasgow; Sunday – Chill.”
But last time was a little different. I had the chance to meet up with Sarah and Gary for a couple shoot with a difference. Rather than heading out into the city, or a park, I popped around to theirs. ย At-home shoots have a completely different feel to them. They are relaxed,ย more intimate and more honest. I always find couples feel a little less camera-shy when there aren’t strangers passing by.
Jeez. What can I say? Sarah & Gary are frickin’ awesome. I first met Sarah at a workshop earlier this year. She’s a super talented photographer herself with Joy Story Photography. They are celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary this year and I was delighted to be able to take some photographs to celebrate. Their home is AMAZING! full of retro chic and vibrant pops of colour.
