It’s your day

You’re laid-back and don’t mind ruffling a few feathers. You do things differently, rather than stick to the ordinary you’ve planned your wedding around things and details that make you scream with excitement, rather than bow down to ‘traditions’ or ‘the way things are usually done’. No hand-me-down tiaras here.

You shudder at the thought of posed, traditional photographs. You’d like your wedding photos to be a visual reminder of the emotions you experienced, rather than just what the day looked like. Stiff group shots aren’t your priority.

You get excited about the little things. Your heart skips a beat at soft window light and those overcast grey days where the light is magical. You adore scouring fleamarkets, exploring new cities and laughing late into the night with friends over good pizza.

Sound familiar? I can’t wait to get to know you.

My approach

I take on a limited number of weddings each year, allowing me to be as committed to you as you are me. This allows me to meet each and every couple to discuss plans, and get to know you a little, which is essential to my relaxed approach on the day.

When I arrive at prep on the morning of your wedding I have one goal in mind – to tell the story of your day. To me, this isn’t about how everything looked on the day, it’s about how you felt and the connections. I want to capture all the emotions, not cheesy, traditional or old-fashioned posed photographs.

I take a step back and watch the day unfold and capture moments and gestures that could easily go unnoticed. I’m unobtrusive while at the same time, like a friend. I’m there for you in any way needed.

Using my artistic nature and architectural background I shoot creatively with the composition in mind. My style is unobtrusive, stylish and kind of cinematic. Read more.

We were so so thrilled with Elaine’s work for us!

From the pre-wedding Skype meeting to the day itself she was an absolute star and completely “got” what wanted from a photographer for our wedding… and the photos themselves are stunning! Great attention to detail and she really captured the atmosphere and spirit of the day. Very highly recommended! We really can’t recommend Elaine highly enough. Her patience, enthusiasm and gentle demeanour helped to produce a perfect, relaxed record of a truly special day. Thank you xx

How It Works

We’ll stay in touch in the run up to your wedding. For some this means fairly regular email contact week-to-week and meeting for cuppas if our paths align. For others, this means very little contact until maybe the month bother your wedding. I’m fine with either, but I love to get to know you guys. So many couples say “oh I look terrible in pictures!” or “we’re really awkward in front of a camera!”. I find getting to know each other takes the emphasis of me being your “photographer” and means you can relax on your wedding day without feeling tense when the camera is near!

Around a month before your wedding day you’ll receive a link to a questionnaire. You can have a peek of it here. This is where we’ll gather your addresses and timings, and the ins and outs of any group shots and the names of a couple of helpers to help gather the troops! We’ll also note any other essential information, or anything I should be aware of (sensitivities or family tensions).

On the wedding day itself, we’ll take things one step at a time. We’ll deal with any inclement weather as and when it arrives, laugh at the random and unexpected, but most of all, we’ll capture it all for you to look back on for years to come.

Cake’s get eaten, dresses get dirty and flowers wilt.

Afterwards, your photographs will be one of the few physical memories you have of your wedding day.

Where will you be in five years, 20 years? We don’t know what will happen in the future, but we can focus on the now. There will only ever be one opportunity to photograph your dad’s reaction as he sees you in your dress for the first time. Your grandparent’s showering you with love after the ceremony, saying how proud they are.

Your wedding day is a story, and it’s my job to document it from start to finish.

Elaine was brilliant!!.. she made us feel so comfortable during our photo shoot and understood exactly what we wanted…the finished product was absolutely stunning and memories we can cherish forever. It’s been a joy to share them with family and friends. No moments of the day were missed and her attention to detail is fantastic, particularly with colours/flowers. All our friends and family were captured looking happy and reflecting the fun we all had. Thank you, Elaine!

Laura & Rhys

Thank you they are beautiful, you did a really good job of capturing the day! The guests were so impressed with the outcome of the photos when we published them on Facebook, you were so unobtrusive I didn’t even realise half the photos were being taken! You capture every moment exactly how it was. Thank you so much for everything, you will come highly recommended to my friends with plans to wed!
